Terms of Use

Safa is an alarm clock that helps you wake for the Fajr prayer. It calculates prayer times, rings an alarm, and asks you to complete a short task before it will stop.

The app is free to use. Worship is never behind a payment.

A great deal of work has gone into making this alarm dependable: it works with no internet connection, it restores itself after a restart, and it can be heard in silent mode.

But no app is stronger than the phone it runs on. In the following situations the alarm may not ring, and that is outside our control:

• the phone is switched off, or the battery is flat;
• you force-quit the app (this matters most on some Android phones);
• the phone's battery optimisation stops the app from running;
• notification or alarm permissions have been switched off.

For that reason: do not rely on Safa as your only means of waking for something critical. The Permissions screen inside the app shows what needs to be enabled.

Prayer times are computed astronomically from the calculation method you choose and your location. They can differ by a few minutes from a local printed timetable.

The app lets you adjust each time by up to ±30 minutes. For accuracy, follow your local mosque's timetable.

A streak is your own record, not a prize. It counts the mornings you woke for Fajr.

Money does not extend a streak and badges cannot be bought. Support unlocks convenience features only.

If a record is inflated artificially — by defeating the alarm, or by automation — we may discard it.

Support is a voluntary thank-you. It is not a subscription and it is not a purchase of goods. It is non-refundable, because nothing is being sold in exchange.

Support unlocks Safa Tong: convenience features (multiple missions, the QR mission, extra sounds, home-screen widgets). Nothing to do with worship sits behind it.

Safa Tong can also be earned free, by waking for Fajr sixty mornings in a row.

• Do not use the app for any unlawful purpose.
• Do not attempt to obtain other users' data or to interfere with our servers.
• Do not redistribute the religious texts in the app in altered form.

We may restrict an account that breaks these terms.

The Qur'anic verses and duas in the app are common religious heritage. The app's own text, design and source code belong to Safa.

The city list is derived from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0). Fonts: Onest and Amiri, under the SIL Open Font License.

The app is provided as it is. We work hard to make it dependable but cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from failing to wake or from missing a prayer time.

If these terms change, the date on this page changes with them.
